Nervous About Joining a Race Home Weekend?

We’ve been chatting with a lot of you lately through our questionnaires, and first of all: thank you. We love how much the concept of a shared race weekend resonates with you.

But we also noticed a common thread in the feedback. A few of you said: “I love the idea… but I’m actually a bit nervous about coming along.”

If that’s you, we want to say two things. First: That is a completely normal way to feel. Second: We’ve built Race Home specifically with those nerves in mind.

Whenever you try something new—especially when it involves staying in a house with people you haven't met yet—it’s natural for the "what ifs" to creep in. What if I’m the slowest? What if I’m too introverted? What if I just want to sit in a corner with a book?

Here is exactly what the "vibe" at a Race Home weekend looks like, and why those nerves usually disappear the moment you walk through the front door.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

Almost everyone who joins a Race Home weekend arrives with a bit of that "first day of school" feeling. Whether they are solo travelers or coming in a pair, they are all wondering the same things you are. Within an hour of arrival—usually over a cup of tea or a casual snack—that tension evaporates. You aren't walking into a "clique"; you’re walking into a group of people who all share your passion for the trails.

2. The "No-Pressure" Promise

Race Home is not a boot camp. There are no mandatory "icebreakers," no forced socialising, and no rigid schedules. We provide the structure—the meals, the transport, the beautiful home—but how you move through that space is entirely up to you.

  • Want to join the group for a pre-race stretch? Great.

  • Want to go for a solo walk to clear your head? Also great.

  • Want to skip the group chat and head to bed at 8 PM? We encourage it.

3. All paces, one community

One of the biggest nerves we hear is: "I’m not a 'proper' runner." At Race Home, we don't care about your Strava stats or your podium finishes. We care about the person. Whether you are aiming for a PB or just hoping to make the cut-offs, you are an equal part of the house. We celebrate every finish line with the same level of enthusiasm.

4. Space to be on your own

We know that race weekends can be overstimulating. While the "shared" aspect is our core, we choose homes that allow for breathing room. If you need 30 minutes of silence to visualize your race or just to decompress, nobody will blink an eye. Our weekends are designed to be a "home," and in a home, you should feel comfortable enough to do exactly what you need to do to feel your best.

5. We are here for you

From the moment you book until the moment you head home, we are your support system. If you’re feeling anxious about a specific part of the weekend, tell us. We’ve handled the logistics so you don't have to, but we’re also there to provide the "human" support that makes a race weekend feel special.

Just show up.

The hardest part of a Race Home weekend is the 10 minutes before you arrive. Once you’re in, the community takes over. You don’t need to be "on," you don’t need to be fast, and you don’t need to be anything other than yourself.

New concepts are scary, but we promise the reward—the connection, the calm, and the shared memories—is worth the initial butterfly in your stomach.

We can't wait to welcome you home.
