Race Home Recovery Pod: Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about setting up, booking, and using the Recovery Pod at your next event.

GENERAL & BOOKING

  • What is the Race Home Recovery Pod?
The Recovery Pod is our mobile, finish-line recovery hub. We bring medical-grade pneumatic compression boots, organic botanical skincare (our TrailSkin range), and soft-tissue mobility tools directly to endurance events to help athletes kickstart recovery immediately after finishing.

  • How do I book a session?
You can pre-book your 15-30-minute session directly through our website before race day to guarantee your slot. Walk-ins on the day are also welcome on a first-come, first-served basis by speaking to our staff and paying using contactless.

  • What happens if I miss my pre-booked time slot because of my race time?
We know race days don't always go strictly to plan! If you finish earlier or later than expected, just head over to the pod. We will slip you into the next available chair as soon as a station opens up.

THE COMPRESSION BOOTS

  • How do the Pulsio Pro compression boots work?
Our boots use Intermittent Pneumatic Compression (IPC). They inflate sequentially from your feet upward toward your heart, mechanically mimicking your muscle pump. This flushes out metabolic waste, reduces post-race swelling, and surges fresh, oxygenated blood back into tired muscles.
  • Does it hurt?
Not at all. The compression should feel like a firm, deep massage. You have complete control over the pressure settings, and our staff will adjust the intensity to ensure it feels comfortable and restorative—never painful.
  • How long is a standard session?
A standard session lasts 20 minutes. Science shows that 20–30 minutes at moderate pressure is the optimal window to achieve maximum circulatory benefits without over-stimulating the muscles.
  • What should I wear?
Please wear running tights, leggings, or dry socks. Bare feet and muddy shoes are strictly prohibited inside the boot sleeves for hygiene reasons. If your socks get soaked or muddy during the race, we provide towels so you can dry off before zipping in.

SAFETY & HYGIENE

  • Is it safe and hygienic?
Absolutely. We enforce a strict hygiene protocol: the interior of every boot sleeve and all seating areas are thoroughly sanitised with medical-grade disinfectant wipes between every single user.
  • Are there any medical reasons I shouldn't use the boots?
While compression boots are extremely safe for most athletes, you should avoid using them if you currently have open wounds/deep lacerations on your legs, active Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), severe unmanaged heart conditions, or acute bone fractures. If you are unsure, feel free to ask our team on-site.

EVENT ORGANISERS & LOGISTICS

  • Do event organisers need to provide power or equipment?
No. We are 100% self-sufficient.. We bring our own heavy-duty 4.5x3m gazebo, matting, seating, and high-visibility signage.
  • Does bringing the Recovery Pod cost the event organiser anything?
No. It is completely free for event organisers. (Depending on distance there may be a charge for fuel for us attending) We charge participating athletes directly for their sessions while elevating the finish-line experience for your event village. We also hold £1,000,000 in Public Liability Insurance (PLI) and provide full RAMS prior to event day.
